VASCO: Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) Chairman I Jeyakumar have informed that the much awaited Khariwado fishing harbour project would start by October this year and by March 2019 the project will be completed.
“For Khariwado fishing harbour project, the terms of reference which is first step towards obtaining environmental clearance has been approved by the ministry of environment last week. We have already appointed consultants to do EIA study. Most probably the EIA study will be submitted to the ministry by July this year and we hope to get environmental clearance by September and in probability we will take up tendering process and work of fishing harbour would start by October this year,” Jeyakumar said.
On the funding, the MPT chief said that during a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, an assurance over release of state share of fund for the project was been given. “The Union ministry of agriculture is giving Rs 25 crore and balance money will be given under Sagarmala by Ministry of shipping,” he informed.
