PANJIM: The Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Saturday questioned the silence of Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte over Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik’s recent statement attributing the drug menace as the main reason behind the crimes in the State.
TMC media coordinator Trajano D’Mello said that with drug menace in the State at an all-time high, Naik had made serious allegations against his own BJP government at a time when the tourism industry is trying to get back to peak levels.
Trajano said, “TMC’s stance on drugs penetrating remote villages in Goa stands vindicated by the BJP leader. His statement indicates how the drug menace continues to fuel increasing crime rate in the State and the government’s failure.”
