Khaunte wants Porvorim sports ground completed by mid-Oct

PORVORIM: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte directed Goa Housing Board (GHB) officials to complete the sports ground in Porvorim by mid-October.

PORVORIM: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte directed Goa Housing Board (GHB) officials to complete the sports ground in Porvorim by mid-October. On Wednesday, he visited the market-cum-sports complex project being constructed near Maruti temple and was dissatisfied with the slow pace of work.
Addressing the Press, Khaunte stated that project began in March 2014. Since Porvorim youth did not have any playground, he requested GHB officials to complete the same by August 31. As GHB failed to comply, he directed the officials to take up the work urgently and complete it by mid-October.
Khaunte further said that the ground would have a cricket pitch in the centre, goalposts and a Mexican lawn.
He also suggested some changes in the market complex and requested GHB to construct a mini-auditorium beside the marriage hall for small events.
GHB Managing Director Nilkant Signapurker stated the market-cum-sports complex project costing Rs 22 crore would be completed by May 2016. He added that the project would also have a jogging track, senior citizens’ room and marriage and community halls.
