Sanguem PSI kicks accomplice of deceased to extract information; Video of PSI Redkar delivering the kick goes viral on social media; Police top brass swing into action

SANGUEM: The video of PSI Sudin Redkar allegedly using abusive language and kicking a youth, which went viral on social media, has evoked mixed reactions from the people with some demanding the cop’s suspension.
As soon as the locals learnt that a youth got drowned in the Selaulim waters on Monday, they immediately rushed to the site and informed the police and fire brigade personnel. The villagers assisted the officials in retrieving the youth’s body.
In the meantime, a team of the police officials led by PSI Redkar reached the site and started conducting the panchanama. The villagers, who were witness to Redkar’s actions of allegedly using abusive language and kicking a youth, informed that while the PSI was questioning the two youth in getting the details as to how the incident took place, the youth tried to evade questions, by feigning ignorance as to what had happened.
This attitude of the duo angered Redkar and in a fit of fury, he allegedly started using abusive language and kicked the youth.
Bhati Sarpanch Uday Naik said that it was only after Redkar vent his anger; the duo gave the details of the deceased.
It may be recalled that the three youth from Ravanfond, Margao had come on a picnic at Dapodem, Bhati on Sunday.
While, the visitors were enjoying the waters, one of them started struggling in the deep waters and got drowned.
The villagers claim that the Selaulim Dam backwaters are used by the youth as place for drinking and merry making and demanded that such activities be stopped immediately. A month ago, a youth from Uguem lost his life in the Selaulim backwaters at Valkini.
Meanwhile, the MGP unit in Sanguem headed by Dattaprasad Sanguemkar complimented the makers of the video and for sharing it on social media.
Condemning Redkar’s behaviour as highly detrimental, Sanguem locals claimed that the PSI’s transfer to GPRS is not an apt punishment and demanded his immediate suspension.
