Kiran joins GFP, slams BJP for disrespecting loyalists

Warns that BJP will be reduced to a single digit

PANJIM: BJP’s former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar on Monday joined the Vijai Sardesai-led Goa Forward Party (GFP), two days after he resigned from the ruling party on October 24.

Addressing a huge crowd of GFP leaders and supporters at Assonora, Kandolkar openly criticised the BJP for disrespecting their loyalists including its workers. The ex-MLA warned that BJP will be reduced to a single digit in the upcoming State Assembly Elections in 2022.

“Today in BJP, everyone is upto pulling each other down. I am one of those victims. These politicians don’t know their workers,” Kandolkar said hinting at his recent questioning by Crime Branch in a matka raid.

Claiming the national party is ‘scared’ to reply to questions related to the State, the new GFP entrant alleged hypocrisy of the BJP over its concerns towards the people of Goa.

“They need to be taught a lesson and people’s empowerment will address it in 2022. BJP will reduced to a single digit,” he added.

Kandolkar accused the BJP of step-motherly treatment to Tivim since 2012 when BJP returned to power with thumping majority. During his address, Kandolkar recalled the good BJP party during the tenure of then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar. “Manohar Parrikar was my mentor and I entered BJP because of him. Until he was alive, everything was good,” he said.

The leader also took a dig at the present CM Pramod Sawant-led government as he pointed out to just retired Lokayukta Justice PK Misra’s findings. “I am not saying it is corrupt but the Lokayukta is… Goenkars are intelligent and when they can throw a national party like Congress out of the ruling, they can definitely do the same with the BJP,” he further said. “Kiran will not step back. I will always be there for Tivim and entire Goa,” he assured amidst thundering applause from the crowd.

GFP president Vijai Sardesai slammed the government over various anti-Goa projects. He alleged that the present government has made Goa a “corridor” for the Centre.  The Fatorda MLA also questioned Sawant’s silence on presenting white papers on benefits IIT project will prove for Goans.
