PANJIM: All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Wednesday appointed former Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad as Goa TMC incharge with immediate effect.
The order to this effect was issued by AITC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Former cricketer-turned-politician Azad replaces MP Mahua Moitra, who was incharge of Goa TMC since November last year.
Meanwhile, TMC’s Calangute candidate Anthony Menezes resigned from the primary membership of the party on Wednesday. He said that he decided to quit the TMC bowing to requests of his workers and supporters and that he will not join any other political party. Menezes also disclosed his plans to recontest the ensuing panchayat elections under the banner of the `Calangute Against Corruption.’
