CANACONA: Canacona police on Saturday registered a case against a resident of Kolhapur for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old German girl at Ovrem in Palolem.
Police disclosed that a complaint in this regard is lodged at Canacona police station by the father of the victim minor girl who is on a holiday in Goa. He told the police that when his minor daughter was on the beach at Ovrem side of Palolem beach the accused came close and allegedly molested her.
The police said that a case has been registered against the accused who is a native of Kolhapur and was on a visit to his relatives living at Patnem, under Section 354 of IPC for assault or criminal force against the victim girl with intent to outrage her modesty and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act. Police said that they have recorded statement of the victim in the presence of a member of a NGO.
The accused was immediately arrested and placed under police custody and will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Canacona for taking the accused on remand. The case is being investigated by PSI Prashal Desai under the supervision of PI of Canacona PS Rajendra Prabhudesai.
