Ramesh B Komarpant was elected chief of the Canacona Shigmostav Samiti 2009.
Komarpant was elected to head Canacona Shigmostav Samiti in the presence of both the taluka MLAs Vijay Poi Khot and Ramesh Tawadkar in a meeting held at Government Rest House, Shrishthal-Canacona.
Other office bearers who were elected included Sameer Dessai (working president), Janardhan Bhandari, Subhash Mahale and Devendra Naik (vice presidents), Venkatrai Naik (secretary) and Omkar Dessai (treasurer).
Canacona will host Shigmo floats parade on March 25, which will begin from Palolem-Agonda junction road; find its way on national highway road through Char-Rasta before culminating at Mini-sports complex, near Deputy Collectors office, Chaudi.
Incidentally, Acting Chairperson of Canacona Municipal council Dilip Kenkre and four ruling councilors have submitted a representation to the Shigmostav Samiti stating that they would not take part in official Shigmo Celebrations this year as their Chairperson Divakar Pagui is in custody.
