Konkan Railway Police successfully cracked the case of 7 kg Gold theft in a running train reported on 2nd May 2023. The Police have arrested a gang of 8 accused persons including a lady and have recovered gold worth 2 crores and other belongings worth 1 crore.
The Police have revealed the names of the accused of this interstate operational gang as Sandeep Bhosale (40), Sangli Maharashtra, Akshay Chinwal (28), Karnataka, Archana More, Mumbai; Dhanpatray Baid, Mumbai, Santosh Shirtode (38) Belgavi, Atul Kamble (39) Maharashtra, Mahendra Mane (30) Sangli and Mohsin Jamadaar (35), Sangli.
Konkan Railway Police Station Margao Goa upon the complaint of Shri. Ashok (55) Nagpada, Mumbai, Maharashtra working for Madhu Ornaments, Mumbai as Office Boy regarding the theft of a suitcase containing freshly made gold ornaments (Bangles) which he was carrying along with himself on behalf of his employer Shri Sampat Jain weighing above 7 Kgs. worth above Rs. 4 Crores by two unknown persons to the effect that on 2nd May 2023 at about 3.10 hrs, while he was traveling in Train No.20924 Gandhidham Tirunelvelli Humsafar Express from Panvel to Thiruvananthpuram, Kerala at Canacona Railway Station, Canacona Goa, while the train had stopped for crossing at Canacona Railway Station.
Upon investigation under the supervision of Dr.AKoan, IPS DIGP (Crime & Range), and Shri. Gurudas N Gawade, GPS, Superintendent of Police, Konkan Railway, Margao, the Konkan Railway Police managed to zero down on two suspects and managed to arrest two accused persons at Sangli, namely Sandeep Bhosale and Akshay Chinwal, on 28th June 2023. A four-wheeler worth Rs. 2,50,000/- and a mobile phone worth 30000/- from Sandeep Bhosle whereas a four-wheeler worth Rs.2,65,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs.1,15,000/- from Akshay Rama Chinwal, bought from the ill-gotten money have been attached by the Police.
