PANJIM: Konkani movie ‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ and its makers received generous accolades in the Goa Assembly, Friday, for winning national awards in three categories. During the congratulatory motion, the Government also announced tax exemption for the movie.
“After hosting the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), film culture is on the rise in Goa. I congratulate the makers of this movie for winning such accolades,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, while supporting the congratulatory motion in the House, on Friday.
He claimed that the recent announcement by the Centre declaring Goa as the permanent IFFI venue has given further boost to the film industry in the State. “Government will support filmmakers and for that we have already commissioned several schemes,” he said.
The motion commending the movie and congratulating its director Badroy Barretto was moved by BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh who opined that this is a must watch movie for everyone. “Music is USP of this movie and it takes us back to the era of 60s, 70s and 80s in Goa. The story is about a music composer and a singer and their emotional journey,” Wagh said.
The film was adjudged best production design, best Konkani film and received special mention for its female lead Palomi Ghosh at the national awards.
