MARGAO: The stage is all set for the three-day 21st All India Konkani Literary conference which gets underway at the Ravindra Bhavan here from Friday.
The Conference will be inaugurated by the eminent playwright, actor, director and Gyanpith award winner Girish Karnad. Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar will be the Chief Guest and Goa Konkani Akademi President Pundalik Naik will be the guest of honour.
Noted Konkani writer from Kerala R S Bhaskar will be the president of the Sammelan this year, while noted Goan English writer, Victor Rangel Ribeiro will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory function on February 17.
The Literary Conference includes two seminars, three panel discussions and two poetry sessions. While one session (‘Writer’s Expression: Freedom and Limits’ to be chaired by Melvyn Rodrigues (Mangalore) will focus on an issue which is of great contemporary interest, another session chaired by Damodar Mauzo will deliberate on ‘Translation of Konkani Literature’.

While the venue of the conference is named after Bolanthur Krishna Prabhu, the stage in the main Pai Tiatrist auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao is named after the Late Shaba Kudtarkar, the promising young play-wright, actor and activist from Sattari-Goa, who died when he still was in his 30s.
