Konkani retreat hall opened in Kerala

MARGAO, FEB 21 The Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza on February 14 blessed and inaugurated a newly constructed St Francis Xavier hall for the retreat in Konkani language at the Divine Retreat Centre, Kerala.

The Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D’Souza on February 14 blessed and inaugurated a newly constructed St Francis Xavier hall for the retreat in Konkani language at the Divine Retreat Centre, Kerala.
The newly erected statue of St. Francis Xavier was consecrated by the Bishop of Sindhudurg Allwyn Barretto  The Konkani retreat Hall has a seating capacity of 1500. During this week an average of 1000 people from the Konkan belt were present to celebrate this occasion.
In the Divine Retreat Centre which has been functioning for the past 25 years the weekly retreat in Konkani was started 19 years ago. Every week an average of 500 people travel to Kerala to attend Retreats. An average of 7000 people attends retreats in seven different languages. The Centre run by the Vincentian Fathers is characterized by powerful preaching, miraculous healings and liberation from crippling addictions.
Fr. Augustine Vallooran explained that the aim of the Retreat Centre is to be always at the service of the Church by renewing the lives of the people in the light of the Word of God and the power of the sacraments as visualized by the Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. He thanked all those who contributed to this Spiritual Project.
