MARGAO: The District and Sessions Court, Margao on Monday granted anticipatory bail to the Konkani singer Alison Gomes alias Alison de Curtorim, with regard to the complaint filed against him by Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias.
Adv Clovis Da Costa, representing Alison and who is also the President of South Goa Advocates Association said that it is an abuse of the process of law and the political class used police machinery to suppress the voice of the people.
Besides, former Aam Admi Party leader Elvis Gomes supported Alison and stated that criticising politicians from the tiatr stage is not new and MLA Clafasio should understand this aspect.
Reportedly, after receiving a complaint from the MLA, the police had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Alison for composing and singing a defamatory song on him and uploading it on YouTube. Hence, Alison had applied for anticipatory bail before the Session Court.
