Kopardem villagers lead morcha to water dept

Complain they don’t have water for the past fortnight

VALPOI: For the past 15 days, Kopardem villagers in Sattari are facing water shortage problem. Their house taps are running dry and there is also no water in their village water tank.
On Thursday morning the Kopardem villagers organised a morcha to the water supply department Valpoi. Around 50 villagers were presence for morcha.
“There is no water in our village tank since past many days. We have already informed the water supply department officials but they have not taken any action. So we held a morcha to the department,” said one of the villagers.
“In Valpoi town, people are getting the 24-hour water supply in their houses whereas in rural villages there is no proper water supply,” said Shripad Sawant, a villager.
“In our village there are around 250 houses and all our houses are facing the water shortage problem. The water tank operator is not working properly,” complained Gauri Gawas, a village woman.
On Wednesday night our team visited the Kopardem village and they have checked the water tank of the village.
We will solve their water shortage problem within next two days,” confirmed Subhash Gawde, Assistant Engineer, Water Supply Department, Valpoi.
Meanwhile at the Thursday assembly session, Poriem MLA Pratapsingh Rane raised this issue, saying “Kopardem villagers are facing acute water shortage problem for the past fortnight” and requested the PWD minister, Deepak Pawaskar to solve it at the earliest.
