Korgao & Parcem Panchayat raise concerns of garbage dumping; demand installation of cameras

In a harrowing incident, the Panchayat body of Korgao and Parcem raised a severe concern regarding the illegal dumping of garbage at Korgao village. Concerns were raised after a significant amount of dry waste was discovered dumped at the border of the village, attributed to resorts irresponsibly discarding their trash and posing a threat to the village’s well-being.

Members of the Korgao Panchayat were the first to notice the accumulation of dry waste, prompting them to alert their counterparts in Parcem about the distressing incident. This marks the second occurrence of such illegal dumping, following a previous clean-up effort by the Korgao Panchayat to clear garbage-ridden roads in the area. The public has been urged to refrain from littering and to prioritize maintaining the cleanliness of the village.

In response to the recurring problem, Panchayat members have called for immediate government intervention, advocating for the installation of street lights and security cameras along the road from Korgao to Parcem. It is believed that such measures would aid in identifying and apprehending culprits responsible for clandestinely disposing of garbage under the cover of darkness.

The absence of street lights along this stretch of road has reportedly facilitated such illegal dumping, providing individuals with an opportunity to discretely discard waste without detection. The Panchayat has issued a stern warning against further transgressions, vowing to pursue police complaints and enforce stricter penalties on offenders.

The collective efforts of the Korgao and Parcem Panchayat underscore the critical need for proactive measures to combat illegal garbage dumping, safeguarding the environment of the village.
