Korgao Panchayat initiates cleanliness drive: Strict action to be taken against garbage menace

Korgao Panchayat members initiated a cleanliness drive at Pethechawada Korgaon on Wednesday. The drive was held due to the growing menace of garbage dumping day and night on the main roadside at Pethechawada. The Panchayat stated that they will take strict action against such litterers and tourists with unruly behaviour.

On Wednesday morning, the Korgao panchayat members cleaned the Pethechawada road which was filled with household garbage. Even though the panchayat has workers to collect garbage, people still bring garbage and dump it at night. This has become a routine habit of the villagers.

The garbage includes household waste, liquor bottles and plastic waste. The panchayat highlighted that not only the villagers but even tourists have also contributed a major part in destroying the village’s beauty.

“Korgaon is a poor village and despite the fact that the panchayat has workers to collect garbage, people bring garbage and dump it at night in this manner. It is necessary to stop bringing household items to such places. The increasing alcohol waste dumped by tourists may have a serious impact on the children as there is a school nearby. People need to think about it. If everyone behaves responsibly, such situations will not arise.” said Kalpita Kalshavkar Dy Sarpanch Korgao Panchayat

As garbage is dumped on theroadsidee, animals are attracted to this place and come to a stop on the side of the road, there is a possibility of accidents. In order to curb this menace the panchayat held the drive to spread awareness among the korgao public.
