Korgao, Parsem to file police complaints to stop miscreants from dumping garbage

KORGAO: To tackle the garbage menace in their respective jurisdictions, the panchayats of Korgao and Parsem have decided to file complaints at the Pernem Police Station against miscreants for dumping garbage by the roadside bordering these two villages.

Some panch members said that they have been clearing the garbage on their own but unidentified persons continue to dump waste at these sites.

Korgao Sarpanch Anuradha Korgaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Kalpita Kalshanvkar, panch members Laukik Shetye, Umesh Chari, Parcem sarpanch Ajit Kalangutkar and panch Ajit Morajkar inspected the dumping site on Sunday and decided to file a complaint against the miscreants at the Pernem Police Station.

“The issue of garbage is becoming intense each day. We urge the people to have some civic sense and help us in keeping the village clean. Please inform us if you find someone dumping the waste,” the sarpanch said.

Parsem sarpanch Ajit Kalangutkar said that they have been informed about a particular restaurant in Mandrem which is dumping its waste on the Korgao-Parsem border.
