Koshyari takes oath in Konkani as Goa Governor

PANJIM: Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who is also the Governor of Maharashtra, was sworn-in as the Governor of Goa at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Datta administered him the Oath of Office. 

The new Governor took oath in Konkani. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant hailed the Governor for taking oath in the State language. The Governor also received the Guard of Honour from Goa Police platoon.

Besides Sawant, Member of Parliament Vinay Tendulkar, Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavalekar, Ministers Jennifer Monserrate, Mauvin Godinho, Deepak Pauskar, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, EDC Chairman Sadanand Shet Tanawade, former ministers Rajendra Arlekar, Damu Naik, Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, DGP Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretaries to various departments, senior government officials also attended the function.

Koshyari  assumed office of Maharashtra Governor in September 2019. In 1997 he was appointed Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. After the formation of Uttarakhand, he was appointed as Minister was Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2001-02. 

He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand in November 2008 and held the position till 2014. During his tenure as Energy Minister in Uttarakhand, he made efforts for the rehabilitation of persons displaced by the Tehri Dam.

He has published two books ‘Uttaranchal Pradesh Kyun?’ and ‘Uttaranchal Sangharsh Evam Samadhan’.
