PANJIM: Eight COVID-19 patients died in the last 24-hours, taking the total deaths due to the virus to 124.
This is the highest 24-hour death count reported so far. A 62-year-old man from Angod-Mapusa who was brought dead at North Goa District Hospital was found to be positive in the post mortem report. A 52-year-old man from Indiranagar-Chimbel, a 74-year-old man from Shiroda, a 68-year-old lady from Betim and an 81-year-old from Talaulim died at GMC. A 62-year-old from Gogol-Margao, a 71-year-old from Margao and an unknown person from Margao died at the COVID-19 Hospital in Margao.

The State also reported 342 new cases whereas 357 patients recovered on Wednesday. The confirmed cases now stand at 12,675 while the active count is 3838 while 8713 have recovered. A total of 2,618 persons are under home isolation.
Meanwhile, a team of doctors from AIIMS left for Delhi from Goa on Wednesday. The team was in Goa for a day to monitor the health of Union Minister Shripad Naik who underwent plasma therapy.
The team said they were happy with the improvement in Naik’s health who tested positive for the virus on August 12.
