MARGAO: The Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) has installed Point of Sale (POS) machines at various locations to allow cashless transactions using debit/credit cards.
To facilitate the passengers, 13 POS machines have been installed at Public Reservation System (PRS) locations at Khed, Chiplun, Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri, Kudal, Kankavli, Thivim, Karmali, CBO/PJ (Panjim booking office), Margao, Karwar, Mookambika Road Byndoor and Udupi on Konkan Railway with effect from December 20 in the first phase with the help of IDFC Bank. The facility will be further extended to other locations such as current ticket booking windows, parcel offices etc. wherever there is cash transaction.
The cashless transaction is functional for RORO service at Kolad, Verna and Suratkal through Closed User Group Card.
Meanwhile, KRC has decided to run special trains on special fare between Mumbai Central to Mangalore Jn and back, to clear extra rush of passengers during Christmas Festival, in co-ordination with Western Railway.
Train No 09009 Mumbai Central – Mangalore Jn weekly special train on special fare will leave from Mumbai Central at 11:15 pm on (Wednesday) December 28 and January 4, 2017 and reach Mangalore Jn at 7:30 pm the next day.
Train No 09010 Mangalore Jn – Mumbai Central weekly special train on special fare will leave from Mangalore Jn at 10:30 pm on (Thursday) December 29 and January 5, 2017 and reach Mumbai Central at 5:50 pm the next day.
The trains will have 15 coaches and will halt at Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Tivim, Karmali, Margao, Karwar, Kumta, Bhatkal, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki and Suratkal stations.
