MARGAO: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) on its 29th Foundation Day on Tuesday announced a mobile phone app-based portal for unreserved ticket booking system which is likely to roll out after Diwali.
The KRCL CMD Sanjay Gupta informed that under Tourism Development 3 stations viz. Margao, Karmali and Thivim stations will be upgraded for which Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned.
Praising KRCL, the Minister for Railways, Piyush Goyal listed out its achievements. Konkan Railway has generated operating surplus from the start of its operational phase. During the financial year 2018-19, Konkan Railway has achieved a net profit of Rs 102 crore. The turnover of company during the financial year 2018-19 was Rs 2898 cr which includes project turnover of Rs 1561 cr and operating turnover of Rs 1264 cr.
KRC is also set to roll out online web portal for applying pass and medical claims for its retired employees along with mobile app for its employees.
The Minister of States for Railways, Suresh Angadi, who could not attend the function in his message congratulated the KRCL and reminded them that the name of KRCL is taken with pride for being the one of the most challenging projects of post-liberation era.
“I assure that the projects taken up will be completed in targeted days and also request the board to maintain the trend of being a profit-making service provider even after being a passenger service”, he said.
On the occasion awards & commendation certificates were presented to the officials and staff for their meritorious works by Sanjay Gupta and Directors of Konkan Railway at a function held in Ravindra Bhavan, Fatorda. H D Gujrati, Director (Operations & Commercial), Subhash Chand Gupta, Director (Way & Works), K K Thakur, Chief Personnel Officer and B B Nikam, Regional Railway Manager were present.
