MAPUSA: Calangute Village Panchayat in collaboration with Bardez Agriculture Zonal Office under the banner of Calangute Growing Green organised a Krishi Card camp for the farmers, at Dona Laviza, Calangute, on Saturday.
To avail the agricultural schemes, the Calangute farmers were urged to apply for the Krishi Card.
Meanwhile, the panchayat along with Bardez Agriculture Zonal Office distributed free flower and fruit bearing samplings to the villagers.
Panch Sudesh Mayekar said, “This initiative will help the farmers to apply for Krishi Card so that they can further avail the various schemes that the Agriculture Department is providing to the farmers to carry out farming activities. We will try and help all the farmers to register them. So far around 150 farmers have applied for Krishi Card and our target is to provide this facility to atleast 323 farmers from Calangute.”
“Krishi Card is important to avail to the different schemes to carry out farming activities. People especially the youth is moving towards farming. This will help the State to become self dependent,” R Joshi, Bardez Zonal Officer said.
