K’taka man assaults DRI officer during arrest, held

PANJIM: The Porvorim police have booked a 40-year-old native of Karnataka for assaulting a senior Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officer.

The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar from Bengaluru.

According to the police, Pawan Kumar Jaiswal, Senior Intelligence Officer of Directorate of Revenue intelligence lodged a complaint stating that the accused assaulted him and his team members at Verem when they had gone to arrest him.

Due to the assault, the officers of the DRI sustained minor injuries, police said.

The incident occurred on April 6. An offence has been registered at Porvorim Police Station under Sections 186, 353 and 323 of IPC and is being investigated by PSI S Malik.
