PANJIM: The Women’s Police Station arrested a 28-year-old
man from Karnataka for allegedly sexually abusing a minor.
According to the police, the 17-year-old victim had lodged a
complaint against the accused Sunil Jadhav, resident of Taleigao, and native of
Hubbali, Karnataka, stating that Sunil had sexually abused her, demanded sexual
favour from her and watched her while she was engaged in a private act, thereby
abetting her for an attempt to commit suicide.
The accused was arrested on Thursday and was produced before
the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) ‘F’ Court, Panjim, who remanded the
accused to police custody for five days.
A case has been registered against the accused under
sections 354, 354 A, 354 C, 305 of IPC and Section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act
and Section 8 and 12 of POCSO Act.
Further investigation is in progress with Lady Police
Sub-Inspector (LPSI) Harshal Raikar, police added.
