KTC conductor with excess cash trapped

A Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) bus conductor preferred to fling money from the window rather than lose his job.
In an unusual incident, KTCL conductor on Margao-Panaji route threw two notes of Rs 50 from the window to save himself from being trapped by ticket checkers.
Deputy General Manager Sanjay Ghate disclosed that the said conductor was thoroughly checked by ticket checker, who found Rs 75 extra on him despite his desperate attempt to get rid of extra money. “Notice was issued to him after he was found with extra cash,” Ghate said.
In yet another incident a conductor was found short of ticketed amount — Rs 85 — on the same route.
“This also amounts to irregularity and action will be taken in this case too. Lots of complaints are being received from Panaji-Margao route,” an official said.
The Corporation has injected several fiscal measures including plugging of revenue leakage by their own staff. After implementation of sixth pay commission, the salary hike is to the tune of 40 per cent while management has decided to hike their earnings at least by 10 per cent.
The Corporation has already suspended four of its conductors, while in two cases the inquiry is on and two are grounded. Apart from these, two drivers are issued memos for not stopping on the way for passengers.
The Corporation has also opened a helpline for the passengers to inform about the misdeeds of their staff. More than 100 phone calls were received by the management on the first day when helpline number was declared by the management. The helpline number is 9423055742.
“We have maintained a register. Once we get complaints, we take immediate action against the said conductor and driver”, Ghate said.
