VASCO: Vasco Police on Tuesday evening arrested a KTC bus driver from New Vaddem, Vasco, on charges of molesting an 18-year-old girl.
According to Vasco Police, the victim, who is staying with her uncle at New Vaddem and studying at Dona Paula, was waiting for a bus at New Vaddem on October 19 at about 6.05 am when the accused Elvis D’Souza, came from behind, caught her hand, and forcefully took her to nearby bushes.
The victim further stated that the accused allegedly urged her to cooperate with him and later caught both her hands and tried to molest her. The victim tried to wriggle out from the clutches of D’Souza and during the struggle kicked him and escaped.
Police said the victim ran from the spot and knocked the door of a house for help. The house owner then contacted her uncle and accompanied the girl to her uncle’s residence at New Vaddem. The victim later narrated the incident to her parents who are staying in Panjim.
On Tuesday morning while she was travelling to Panjim by KTC bus, she recognised D’Souza, who tried to hide his face and on reaching Panjim informed her parents about the identity of the accused.
Police said the girl noted the bus number and along with her parents lodged a complaint with Panjim Police,
who swung into action and arrested D’Souza.
Police said since the incident took place at Vasco, the Panjim Police transferred the case to Vasco Police. D’Souza was arrested under Sections 341, 354, 354(b) of IPC and PSI Gautam Salonki is investigating the case.
