Deceased Vaz (52) has succumbed to her injuries at the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim on Thursday evening after battling for life since Saturday after the speeding KTC bus ran over her legs at Arlem near the Fatorda petrol pump.
Addressing the media along with the grandchildren of deceased Santana, the Fatorda MLA said he has written a letter to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to compensate the family of the deceased, including the grand children, from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. “Deceased Santana has left behind two grand children aged 12 and 10 years. The children has been left orphaned and are currently putting up with their relatives”, he added.
Vijai also drew attention of the Chief Minister to the fact that the 108 Ambulance and the Margao police had arrived late at the spot, triggering wide spread resentment amongst the local populace. The MLA also demanded to know why the Margao police is going slow in the matter by not arresting the bus driver even after the registration of an offense. “It is indeed shocking and surprising that the police are silent when it comes to arresting the bus driver, considering the fact that it’s now over a day since Santana had succumbed to her injuries at the GMC hospital”, he said.
