PONDA: The Adapai-Agapur locals on Tuesday expressed happiness over resuming of KTC bus service from Tuesday which was stopped during the lockdown period.
Herald had highlighted the sufferings of the locals in absence of bus service from Agapur to Ponda route.
Prashant Naik, a local, thanked this daily for highlighting the plight of the locals following which KTC started plying bus on this route from today. The locals were forced to work, take a lift or hire a motorcycle pilot to travel to Ponda for shopping and medical treatment.
Most of the private buses have stopped operations since lockdown and there was a demand from the locals that the government should at least restart the Kadamba bus service on this route which was regularly ferrying passengers since last many years but was stopped during COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown.
Following a Herald report highlighting the problems of locals, the Kadamba Transport Corporation started plying bus on this route at 11.30 am from Agapur to Ponda, providing some relief to the locals.
