PANJIM: Kadamba Transport Corporation has mooted a plan of launching special bus service for government servants travelling to the capital city and the surrounding areas to reduce the increasing passenger movement during the peak hours.
One dedicated bus has been deployed on a trial basis for department of Art and Culture staff travelling from Margao, Quepem and Sanvordem to Panjim. The bus provides pick up and drop service to the employees in the morning and evening and carries a plate ‘Art and Culture’.
A special bus would be also provided to the Porvorim Secretariat staff. Buses would be also provided to the employees of Mormugao Port Trust and National Institute of Oceanography.
Speaking to Herald, KTC Managing Director Derrick Netto said ‘there are a lot of complaints from the passengers during the peak hour complaining about the lack of buses. Our problem is not shortage of fleet but during peak hour every passenger is in hurry to get into the bus and due to pass system, everyone prefers to go for shuttle’.
“There is just chaos. To reduce this, we are planning to provide special buses to the government staff traveling to Panjim,” he explained. Netto said that the Corporation has identified certain government departments, where the passengers travel from South to Panjim in large number.
Currently, along with Art and Culture, KTC has identified Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), directorate of health services and the Sports Authority for providing bus facility.
