KTC Managing Director Derrick Pereira Neto said, “The Corporation being covered under the ESA the workers are directed not to indulge in irregular activity and stopping operations.”
He further stated that the Corporation has geared up for the nationwide strike call given by trade unions on September 2.
“Necessary circulars have been issued to the employees and the employees on weekly off, and on leave, may be called on duty on September 2,” he said, and added that action would be initiated against the staff if they did not co-operate.
Clarifying further Neto said that the strike call has been given by AITUC and some of the KTC unions are affiliated to the trade union.
“It is not the KTC employees but AITUC which is making the statements,” Neto said.
He further clarified that the strike call has nothing to do with the internal administration as KTC has settled employees’ demands from time to time.
