KTCL bus veers off at Saligao-Parra road due to steering wheel malfunction

A KTCL bus lost control and veered off in the fields at Saligao-Parra road on Monday. As per the bus conductor, the driver experienced a steering wheel malfunction at the speed breaker which made the vehicle veer off the road. Fortunately, no passengers were injured. 

On Monday morning, a KTCL bus was on its way from Mapusa to Calangute when the bus driver faced a steering wheel malfunction at Saligao – Parra road. The bus was on speed and while slowing down for a speed breaker the steering wheel got locked and the bus veered off the road. During the incident, no commuters faced the consequences of the accident as no other vehicles were travelling at that time. 

 “Around 6.45 a.m. the bus was travelling on its usual route from Mapusa to Calangute. While approaching the Saligao-Parra road, one passenger suddenly showed a hand to tell the driver to stop the bus. The bus was at full speed and the driver immediately hit the brake as soon he saw that man waving. The bus lost the functioning of its steering wheel at the rumblers and the driver couldn’t control the bus,”said Gaurav Prashant Bharve, the bus conductor.

Total 7 passengers were on board and all of them were senior citizens. The bus took a sharp left turn and it landed on a field. Fortunately, the passengers were unharmed and no severe damages were reported. The bus driver is taken to the Mapusa Police Station for interrogation regarding the cause of the accident.
