PANJIM: The Delegation of KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association (AITUC) led by Christopher Fonseca and Shashikant Gaonkar along with office bearers of the Union presented a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other authorities on Tuesday, strongly objecting to outsourcing of new electric buses to a third party contractor.

Union General Secretary Fonseca stated that as per reports, these new electric buses will be given on lease to a third party contractor on kilometre basis/per day running basis. The Union also demanded that KTCL should procure at least 150 new Buses to maintain all schedules of operations including the Inter-state and nationalised routes, by employing their existing workers and staff employees.

Reiterating that the Union has demanded that there is outsourcing of the new electric buses to any third party contractual agency, Fonseca said, “This decision of Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited  management not only threatens the very existence survival of KTCL but it will also adversely affect the prospects of jobs and employment of hundreds of workmen and staff employees employed as office staff, clerks, ticket collectors conductors, drivers, mechanics and those employed in other allied works with the Corporation,” he said.
