PANJIM: As many as 300 Kadamba employees held a day-long dharna demanding the government to fulfill their pending demands including regularisation of “badli drivers and conductors”.
The peaceful protest was held at Panjiim KTCL Bus Stand, was backed by All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) leaders.
The primary demands of the KTC workers under the banner KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association, is immediate regularisation of “Badli drivers and conductors” who have completed two years in service, their probation must be restricted to six months on being regularised, minimum salary should be Rs 25,000 per month as they are presently paid Rs 15,000 per month and stop break in service among others.
A press statement issued by AITUC General Secretary Christopher Fonseca stated that the workers have decided to launch an all out struggle to secure their demands.
The demands also included regularisation of security workmen, salary of sweepers and other sections to be paid on due date monthly and the KTCL management should sign a comprehensive wage agreement with the association and pay all the wage arrears with effect from January 1, 2016.
