BICHOLIM: Employees at the Bicholim Electricity department had to face the fury of residents of Kudchirem following a power outage in the village on Wednesday night, when some agitated persons pelted stones at the electricity department vehicle.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 8 pm when power supply went off in the taluka and the electricity employees were carrying out the repair work. When the employees reached Kudchirem, the agitated villagers pelted stones at the vehicle (GA-02-G-7595). Fearing for their lives, the workers rushed back to Bicholim with the damaged vehicle.
The Electricity department officers on Thursday lodged a complaint with Bicholim Police against unidentified persons for causing a loss worth Rs 45,000.
The power supply was restored in the village on Thursday after the electricity department workers went to the village with police protection.
According to sources, the vehicle had been recently repaired by the department.
