Kul Mundkar cases will be fast tracked, assures CM

Says government taking several steps, initiatives to expedite resolution of Tenant, Mundkarial cases and bring about a timely and satisfactory conclusion to the issue

PANJIM: Lamenting that Kul Mundkar cases have been pending for the last 62 years of Liberation, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the Kul Mundkar cases will be fast tracked.

“We have seen that even after 62 years of liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule, Kul Mundkar cases are still pending. However, the government is trying to solve those cases and now they will be resolved on a fast-track basis. These issues will be resolved soon,” the Chief Minister said while addressing on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day celebrated at Goa University Ground, Taleigao.

In an effort to address the concerns related to Tenant and Mundkar cases, the government is taking several steps and initiatives to expedite the resolution of cases and bring about a timely and satisfactory conclusion, he said.

The Chief Minister announced that the second lane of Zuari bridge will be inaugurated on December 22, 2023.

Sawant also announced that foundation stone for the revolving restaurant, which is to come up on the new Zuari bridge at the cost of Rs 270 crore and Porvorim elevated road, which is to be constructed by spending Rs 641 crore, will be laid on the same day.

Sawant also said that the government is working towards achieving zero carbon emission tag before 2050 and priority will be given for electric vehicles.

He said experience certificates or apprenticeship certificates will be compulsory for applying for jobs for both government as well as private sectors.

The Chief Minister said the government is working in a systematic way towards making the state carbon free by the year 2050.

Earlier, the Chief Minister unfurled the national flag with the police band playing the national anthem and the police guard of honour giving the national salute.

The Chief Minister inspected the parade and march-past from students and police contingents.

The Chief Minister presented the President Police Medal award to Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, IPS for his distinguished Service. North Superintendent of Police Nidhin Valsan, IPS was presented with Chief Minister Police Gold Medal for his meritorious service and Margao Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Santosh Desai was presented with Police Medal for his meritorious service.  

Swayampurna Mitras were also honoured for their contribution during the Swayampurna Goa 2.0 Programme. Similarly, awards such as the State Agriculture Award, Social Workers Award, and Best Employee Award were presented in the categories of visually impaired, physical disability and hearing impairment.

Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate and Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel were prominent among those who attended the function.

The event also saw the participation of several other government officials, social workers, teachers and students.
