PONDA: Kundaim locals on Thursday opposed installing of mobile tower in the government school premises at Kundaim stating it is hazardous to students’ health.

The locals demanded to erect the mobile tower at the IDC premises or over any government buildings. Locals said, “This is the second time we have foiled the attempt of the mobile company to install the tower without proper documents.”

Earlier on August 22, Kundaim locals had stopped the work of mobile tower installation at the school premises. When the villagers learnt about the mobile company secretly erecting the tower, around 200 parents signed a memorandum and submitted to the local panchayat opposing the tower.

A local Vijesh Naik said, “The PTA had already opposed the tower in the school premises and even parents had warned the school authorities to remove their children from the school the day the tower gets erected even if one academic year of students get wasted. The parents are more bothered about the health of their children and don’t want to send their children to school where the mobile tower is erected.”
