PONDA: Kundaim locals on Sunday strongly opposed the NOC and Occupancy granted to Karnataka-based Chitrapur Mutt on Comunidade land stating that the Mutt is constructing a commercial complex while permission is asked for a farmhouse.
They blamed the panchayat secretary for not following rules while issuing notice for inspection of Mutt.
The villagers alleged that the secretary and panchayat body was working under political pressure and not keeping the interest of the villagers in mind.
The villagers also filed a police complaint against the panchayat secretary for his arbitrary decisions for conducting site inspection without notice of the sarpanch and said it was illegal and it should be done again in the presence of BDO, TCP complainant, local panchas, sarpanch and the Mutt officials to find out whether the construction done is for a farmhouse or the commercial project as per plan submitted.
Locals questioned the need of providing 36,000 square metres of Comunidade land to the Mutt which is of no use to locals.
