PONDA: Ponda Police on Wednesday arrested 55-year-old Sagar Naik from Wadiwada-Kundaim for allegedly killing his younger brother 41-year-old Prabhakar Naik.
The murder offence has been registered against the accused under Section 302 of IPC and investigation is on. Ponda DySP Nelson Albuquerque said a sudden quarrel led to the fight between the two brothers wherein Sagar murdered Prabhakar. The accused, who also sustained injuries in the incident, was produced before court which remanded him to seven days.
It may be recalled that the incident came to light on Tuesday evening when Sagar’s wife, who works in Margao, returned home at around 6.45 pm and found her brother-in-law lying on the floor and her husband Sagar standing next to the body. She contacted the police who rushed to the house.
The DySP said the accused was earlier arrested in connection with the murder of his elder brother in 2012 and was later released in 2016.
