QUEPEM: The State government has claimed that the bridge over Kushwati River at Quepem is “intact” and there is not a single crack on the bridge.
Referring to a Herald report, the Information and Publicity Department issued a press note stating that the road leading to the bridge “has sunk as expected and the retaining wall by the side of the road has developed some cracks, as expected.”
“Whenever any road is prepared by mud filling, it is bound to sink in certain portions, where the road roller cannot be taken for compacting. This is a phenomenon witnessed the world over and the only remedy is to fill it up again and that is what has happened at Quepem,” the press note added.
