In a bid to resolve the NUSI-Wockhardt labour imbroglio, the Labour Commissioner called the hospital management and the striking employees to the negotiating table on Tuesday.
While a senior legal counsel represented the hospital management before the Labour Commission, the striking employees was represented by Trade Union leader Christopher Fonseca.
The 24 employees were also present.
The management legal counsel maintained that he needs to consult the management based in Mumbai on the points raised by the striking employees.
Incidentally, the regular hearing of the case is scheduled on May 7, but the management legal counsel said he may not be able to submit any concrete on that day and asked for time till May 11 for a reply.
The striking employees, on the other hand, insisted that they all be reinstated with continuity of service with back wages.
Meanwhile, the indefinite agitation called by the employees and the residents of Cuncolim in support of the workers entered the third day today.
Though the police has deployed a posse of policemen near the NUSI-Wockhardt entrance gate since the last three days, the situation has remained peaceful till date.
