PANJIM: In a step towards allowing business establishments ease in carrying out trade, Department of Labour & Employment has launched online services wherein application and renewal of various services are accessible through the portal www.goaonline.gov.in. A total of 11 services under Phase-1 were rolled out on Monday.
Operating under a temporary basis until its official launch, Labour & Employment Minister Rohan Khaunte said the department has been able to accomplish the task within three days, much ahead the deadline of one week.
“The digital service has largely cut down on manual process and allows the business fraternity ease in dong business. The service is to improve efficiency, accuracy and make application processing methodology transparent with minimum human intervention,” Khaunte said after launching the online service.
The minister also listed the advantages stating that the people now need not visit the department for various services as they can submit their applications online. “The public can view and download digitally signed registration certificate on a real time basis without the need to visit labour office. All status updates of the application will be intimated to the applicant via SMS and email. Applicant will also be able to check the response towards the application through the portal,” he added.
The service, which has been launched in tune with Time Bound Delivery Services, joins four other departments, as Revenue Department already operates 11 services online, while Transport, Planning & Statistics and Public Grievances have digitised five, four and one service respectively.
Further upgrading the Labour & Employment Department, Khaunte mentioned that new labour welfare centres will be opened to tap the total unemployment in the State, Goans employed in different sectors, etc. “The government is serious about tackling this issue,” he added.
