MARGAO: In a shocking incident a Jharkhand labourer murdered his colleague with a sharp weapon and dumped the body in a pickup.
Margao police have arrested one Prashant Balla aged 26 years for murdering Amit Kirketti aged between 35 to 40 years, a native of Jharkhand. The incident took place in front of Hotel Raviraj located in Khareband.
The incident was brought to notice of police by the pickup driver Salman Kanekar native of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. He lodged a complaint that during the intervening night of 24 June from 7 pm to 8.40 am of 25 June some unknown person murdered and dumped a male body in his vehicle.
With the help of CCTV footage and other intelligence, police caught one Prashant Balla native of Simdega in Jharkhand and works as labourer in Margao. During the course of investigation, the accused confessed to have murdered Amit Kirkatti with knife.
Further it was revealed that there was a brawl between accused and victim after consuming liquor.
