MAPUSA: Lack of basic facilities, including public toilets, garbage management facility at Tivim Railway Station is causing inconvenience to passengers, public and transport operators including taxi, rickshaw and motorcycle pilots.

The Monitoring Cell of the North Goa District Road Safety Committee found number of issues during their inspection held at Tivim Railway Station to observe the Road Safety and Traffic Management infrastructure.
The inspection team consisted of Jack De Souza, ADT Transport and member secretary Monitoring Cell; Roland Martins, co-ordinator GOACAN; Pramod P Shet, MVI Enforcement Cell Panjim; Bosco Ferrao Fire Officer Mapusa, Tushar Lotlikar Police Inspector Traffic Cell Mapusa and Praveen Wadkar AMVI Directorate of Transport, Mapusa.
During the inspection, it was found that, signages indicating the road to Tivim railway station and signages indicating speed breakers were missing when there were three speed breakers on the road approaching the station. There were no proper street lights along the road going leading to the station.
“Almost 40 yellow-black taxis, 33 auto-rickshaws and 13 motorcycle pilots are providing service to the passengers but there is no toilet or drinking water facility was made available for the transport Operators,” Roland Martins, co-ordinator of GOACAN said.
Detailed report of the joint inspection team with observations and recommendations will be submitted to the District Collector and Chairman of the District Road Safety Committee.
