She said land in Kundaim had been inspected and was being considered for a centralized centre for biomedical waste treatment. “Nothing is finalized as of yet. I too was part of the committee that inspected the land but we are still in the initial stages,” she said.
She also informed that though GMC had means to deal with biomedical waste generated from the hospital, waste from other hospitals in the State was not being brought into the same facility.
There is a need to streamline the protocols in dealing with biomedical waste, she said, thus the need for a centralized centre where all of the State’s waste could be treated.
