PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Goa Police, constituted this week to exclusively probe into land grabbing cases, made its first arrest in the case on Saturday.
The team has arrested one Vikrant Shetty from Gogol, Margao. The SIT has taken up investigation of two offences of land grabbing/transfer or land through forged documents. Shetty’s arrest is in one of these cases, details of which were awaited till going to the press.
It is learnt that he will be produced before the court/magistrate on Sunday for remand following which his thorough interrogation will commence by the police team. The SIT could also rope in experts to assist the probe.
The SIT has gathered various leads resulting in his arrest with more arrests of fraudsters likely in the coming days.
The Goa government constituted SIT to investigate various complaints and FIRs pertaining to the matter.
