PANJIM:The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing illegal land grabbing apprehended Esteven D’Souza, a resident of Dona Paula,in connection withthe illegal land grab under Sections 465, 466, 467, 468, 419 and 420 Indian Penal Code.
Crime Branch (SIT)Superintendent of Police Nidhin Velsan informed that the accused D’Souza is the accomplice of mastermind accused Mohammad Suhail who was earlier arrested in connection with the Assagao land grabbing case. In this regard the accused has been arrested on Friday, he added.
According to SP, D’Souza is allegedly involved with Suhail in preparing fake documents of properties, some of which were illegally grabbed and transferred by him on his and hisgrandmother’s name.
It is learned that the accused Esteven D’Souza is the same person who had unsuccessfully contested the 2022 Assembly Elections from St Andre Constituency on the National Congress Party (NCP) ticket.
With the arrest of D’Souza, this has become the sixth arrest after Vikrant Shetty, Mohammad Suhail, two government employees of Achieves Department and Altaf CA being the fifth accused arrested.
