MARGAO: Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas has survived the no trust motion tabled against him by six out of the 10 municipal councillors.
When the motion was taken up for discussions, only five signatories to the motion turned up for the council meeting, thereby defeating the motion. After the meeting, Landry along with councillors Anthony Fernandes and Crossy were seen with former urban development minister, Joaquim Alemao. Landry told the media that he had never joined the BJP, but had only taken support of the MLA Rajan Naik while assuming office for the development of the town. He thanked Alemao for his support to foil attempts made to dislodge him from office.
Joaquim Alemao told the media that the ruling party tried to remove Landry by hook or by crook, but could not succeed. “
