PONDA: A landslide occurred after days of heavy rain at Gaonkarwada, Priol on Wednesday with a portion of hill collapsing and boulders rolling down blocking the road and leaving resident of houses on the opposite side worried.

The road for vehicular traffic was blocked for a long time. Residential houses below the hill however had a lucky escape and no untoward incident occurred.
Following the incident, local MLA Govind Gaude took the initiative and cleared the debris using JCB.
According to locals the road was constructed ten years ago without proper retaining wall. The locals demanded that government should construct a new retaining wall with proper engineering to prevent further landslide for the safety of locals residing in area.
