MAPUSA: The approach road to Baga Retreat House got blocked on account of a landslide that occurred on Tuesday.
Fr Lawry Trinidade, Director of Baga Retreat House informed that incident occurred on Tuesday morning when huge amount of mud slid down the hill further blocking the lone access road to the retreat house.
He said similar incident took place on August 3 and since from July, the mud has been sliding down due to the rains.
Stating that the retaining wall built years ago has weakened; he cautioned that if the wall collapses then the entire rock will come down.
Jesuits reside atop the hill and now since the road is blocked, they are facing problem to move out to get essential items, he added.
Meanwhile, Calangute MLA Micheal Lobo has assured to take up the issue with the Chief Minister.
“I will write to the chief minister under disaster management and after taking Chief Minister’s permission, soon a site inspection will be carried out by the PWD engineers and officials from Collector’s office”.
