Language conference held

VALPOI: The first Gramin Sahitya Sammelan was held at Karonzal village in Valpoi, on Saturday and Sunday. Many writers, poets and journalists from all over the Goa participated at the event and shared their experiences. The participants contented that it is important to protect the language because language is not only a medium of communication, but also represents the history, culture, tradition of the place that the people belongs to. “If language is not protected, then, that would be the first step to extinction. One must protect the language to keep the mankind alive by organising such traditional programmes,” said writer Raja Shirguppe.
